GIP Dynamometer Car (254)

This 21.9 meter long 53.5 ton Broad-gauge (5’6”) experimental car was built in 1930 by Metropolitan Cammel, Carriage, Wagon & Finance Co. United Kingdom and equipped with test gear supplied by Alfred J. Amsler & Co. of Switzerland. This car was used in the Great Indian Peninsula Railway to evaluate performance characteristics of locomotives, determine resistance to traction of rolling stock & the power.
